He was captain of the varsity football team and president of his graduating class.<br /> <br /> He lettered in football and track at Urban Military Academy in Los Angeles, California. <br /> <br /> Dolan entered the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the SS Mark Hanna in World War II and was honorably discharged as a lieutenant<br /> <br /> junior grade.<br /> <br /> Dolan was appointed to the city of Salem physical education staff in 1945 as a teacher of health, physical education and driver&#039;s<br /> <br /> education. He served as head of the physical education department until retiring in 1979.
