Fred A. Gannon, a local newspaper reporter for the Salem Evening News, put out a series of pamphlets and scrapbooks
under the "Old Salem Scrapbooks" series in the 1940's.
"Nicknames and neighborhoods and album of pictures of Old Salem" is one of his volumes that addresses local names for places in Salem.
He also covered a few other topics such as Dr. William Bentley and Dr. Edward Holyoke of Salem.
