John Lennon was said to have visited Salem with his wife Yoko Ono on approximately June 8, 1973. The Salem Evening News ran a story on June 8th with the headline "Fans Claim Beatle Lennon and Yoko in Salem Monday." The story goes that he was in Salem (on Essex St.) looking for the place where the witches were hung. A pair of locals spoke to Lennon in his car and said to follow them to Gallows Hill area.
