Empire Theater was at 285 Essex Street, built in 1906, sat nearly 1500 people.

  • This was the site of Mechanic Hall, built in 1839 and destroyed by fire in 1905.
  • Having a seating capacity of about eleven hundred, it was the principal hall in the city for theatricals.
