Margaret Press, a local Salem author, writes mysteries set in Salem.
In 1996, she published a non-fiction book about the murder of Martha Brailsford by Thomas Maimoni, called Counterpoint: a murder in Massachusetts Bay.
Her previous two fiction books were "Requiem for a postman" and "Elegy of a thief", both set in Salem.
