- Before the city installed the pedestrian mall, Kennedy's covered more than a block of the north side of Essex Street.
 
- Both Kennedy's and Almy's were both packed with shoppers on weekend nights and the years after World War II.
 
- Kennedy's was much smaller and specialized in coffee flavors and tea, pastries and sandwiches, soda , beer and a few groceries
 
when it closed its doors in Nov. of 1993. By then its address was 213 Essex St.
- It was known as Kennedy's or the "Butter and Egg Store". A branch of the store was at 231 Cabot St. but that closed in 1983.
