Millner was an outstanding football player. After a great career at Salem High School,where he earned all-star honors, he went on to play for the University of Notre Dame and the Washington Redskins through the 1930's and early 40's. He retired from the Redskins in 1945, after serving three years in the Navy in the early 40's.
