American Neptune was a quarterly journal, published since 1941, providing historical and pictorial data on the maritime profession. First issued in 1941, it had been published by the Peabody Museum since 1966. The journal focuses on American maritime history, but does include international material as well. Ernest Dodge, director of the Peabody Museum was its editor for many years.
