Joe's Auto Laundry was started in 1942 at the corner of Washington and Federal Streets by the late Joe Palamara and his wife Ann.
The business moved to Norman Street in 1969 when the commuter rail tunnel was built under Washington Street.
Joe's Auto Laundry pumped gas, changed tires and did minor repairs but it was best known for car detailing.
Joe's was forced to close as the lease was expiring and the rent was going up.
They closed their doors in October of 2006.
