Jack Welch, born John Francis Welch, Jr. (Nov. 19, 1935 - Mar.1, 2020), was a chemical engineer, businessman and author.
He was Chairman and CEO of General Electric from 1981-2001.
Welch grew up in Salem, living on 15 Lovett St., and attended Salem High School and UMass Amherst.
He has been a generous benefactor to local charities, including the Boys and Girls Club of greater Salem.
Jack Welch died on March 1st, 2020, at age 84.
