Edward Whiting Hathaway won the Medal of Honor at a battle near Vicksburg, Miss. in the Civil War. Hathaway was a member of the Union navy cited for bravery aboard the USS Sciota on June 28, 1862.
Edward lived at 15 Willow Ave. in Everett until his death in 1916. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
A ceremony was held on 2000 and a marble stone marker memorialize his resting place.
