George J. Heussler,(1751-1817) born in Landau Alsace, and immigrated to Salem.

He worked as a court gardener in Holland before immigrating to America.

Heussler worked as a landscape gardener, in Newburyport and Salem. Possibly one of the first professional plants-man in Salem.

He married first Abigail Young (1753-1799)

He married second: Elizabeth 'Jenny' Lunt, the widow of a Mr. Stephens and the mother of Abigail Heussler date unknown.

father of several children, including Abigail Heussler Smith 1803.

He is buried in the Old Burying Ground on Charter Street.

He is spoken of highly in Bentley's 1817 diary. Heussler was working for Elias H. Derby on his farm in Danvers but worked for many others as well.
