Lappin Park

Lappin Park, a shady urban oasis on the corner of Washington and Essex Streets, was dedicated on June 17th, 1993 in a ceremony that

included the two sons of John and Frances Lappin who owned the land before selling it to the city. The cost of the park was partly funded

by a Community Development Action Grant, helping the city to stimulate economic activity. Gerber's Restaurant occupied the space for many

years.

Sons Robert and Stanley Lappin later generously donated a spinkler system for the park, to ensure the health of the plants in the area.

The Bewitched Statue was placed there in 2005. TV Land, a cable network, financed the statue and many of the actors related to the

television show were there for the unveiling, along with a crowd of over a 1,000 onlookers.
