Mathew Robson (1833-1929) was a notable figure in the leather industry in Salem for nearly 60 years. Born in Ireland, he came to Salem in 1856.

From humble beginnings he rose to be a successful businessman in the leather industry, with Robson Leather Company.

His life was marked by public service. He was president of the Y.M.C.A. and was involved with Wesley Church and a trustee of the Salem Hospital and Plummer Farm School.
