Charles H.Copeland (1911-1963) was head librarian at Salem Public Library from 1956 until his death in 1963.

A native of Salem, he attended Salem schools and graduated from St. Lawrence University. He was a formerly a curator of maritime history at

Peabody Museum. He was a World War II veteran with the Army Engineers, seeing service in the South Pacific.

He succeeded Ralf. P. Emerson at the Salem Public Library.
