Millea, Lillian C.
From Salem Links and Lore
Lillian C. Millea,(Doll Maker) widow of Francis E. Millea, made character dolls in her home on 142 and 114 Federal Street in Salem in the 1940's.
Her cardboard boxes bore this label: Mrs. F. E. Millea 114 Federal St. Salem, Massachusetts Hand Made Character Dolls Attractive Soft Dolls Including a Topsy-Turvy Doll, 15. in.
From Salem Directory records, it appears that Lillian moved to Salem after her husband's death and left in 1950.
Each doll had its own glued paper label, which identifies it by name as well as by artist. Two of the dolls are Cinderella
and Daffy Down Dilly. Other dolls were Florence Nightingale and Little Sweetheart.
All the dolls had stub hands and sewn on clothing.
