Downtown Salem
From Salem Links and Lore
There has been changes in the downtown area of Salem over the years, especially when big retail shops
like Almy's and Sears and Roebuck, moved out when the North Shore Shopping Center on Route 128 in Peabody opened in 1958.
It took another 20 years to build up the tourism industry including places like Pickering Wharf and to see more museums
around the Witch Trial Hysteria open.
