Captain Edward Allen (1725-1803) was a Salem merchant and shipmaster. He commanded schooners Baltick and Industry and brig Neptune.
Captain Allen resided at 125 Derby Street in Salem. The house was built by the commander of the South Carolina naval brigantine Comet. It was said that Allen was gifted the residence as a reward for bringing Charleston news of the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Captain Allen relayed this news on his schooner Industry.
