The famous filmmaker, Otto Preminger made the film, Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon in Salem in 1969. The film starred Liza Minnelli in the lead but also Ken Howard and Robert Moore. The movie is based on a novel by Marjorie Kellogg, who also wrote the screenplay. It is about a California nurse. They filmed at the Salem Hospital a week and then filmed in the area for eight weeks. The movie featured a "scandalous" nude scene in the Braintree cemetery. It was released in movie theaters in 1970.
