KeySpan Energy Company sponsored a contest to design artwork to be painted on the side of the Salem Harbor LNG tank. The selection committee was made up of Salem community members, artists and members of the business community. They called it the "Celebrate Salem" contest. It took place in 2001. The design was selected from 50 submissions. The winner was Ray Guertin, a native of Salem who now lives in Danvers. The painting was completed by fall 2001.
