From Salem Links and Lore
Jim McAllister, an amateur historian, writer and photographer has forged an eclectic career in Salem. His photographs have appeared on billboards, local publicity materials and dozens of publications. He co-authored two books: Salem:Cornerstones of a Historic City and Salem: From Naumkeag to Witch City.
McAllister is also a regular columnist on history topics for the Salem Evening News.
He also leads tours as head of Derby Square Tours.
McAllister was honored in 2008 when Essex National Heritage Commission named his Salem's first "Heritage Hero."
