Bill's Variety Store
From Salem Links and Lore
Bill's Variety store was open for 47 years in north Salem, at Moody Square, at the corner of Orne and North Street.
The Nadeau family has managed and run the store since 1955. Robin Nadeau's grandfather, William Hussey bought the existing store and renamed it
Bill's Variety. There had been a store there since 1869. Her parents, Don and Nancy ran the store for many years until Robin took over and ran it for 9 more years.
They closed the store in 2002, as business was down.
The store was a favorite place for the kids of the neighborhood, and for their penny candy selection.
