  • American Neptune was a quarterly journal, published since 1941, providing historical and pictorial data on the maritime profession.
  • First issued in 1941, it had been published by the Peabody Museum since 1966.
  • The journal focuses on American maritime history, but does include international material as well.
  • Ernest Dodge, director of the Peabody Museum was its editor for many years.
  • The American Neptune ceased publication in 2002.
