From Salem Links and Lore

Thomas Maule (1645 England- 1724) Quaker convert Thomas Maule settled in Salem in about 1679 and contributed to the construction of the first Quaker meeting house in Salem.

During the Salem Witch Trials, he wrote the first condemnation of the witch trials and published it under his own name.

In 1695, several years after the last of the accused were released from custody, Maule published a pamphlet titled "Truth Held Forth and Maintained", in which he publicly criticized the Puritan leaders for their gross mismanagement of the Witch Trials.
