Jim McAllister, an amateur historian, writer and photographer has forged an eclectic career in Salem. His photographs have appeared on billboards, local publicity materials and dozens of publications. He co-authored two books about Salem: Salem:Cornerstones of a Historic City and Salem: From Naumkeag to Witch City.
McAllister is also a regular columnist on history topics for the Salem Evening News, under the heading Essex County Chronicles.
He also leads tours as head of Derby Square Tours.
