The following are dates of dedication are for Salem's schools of the past:

Oliver School, Broad St. --- 1818 Bentley School, Essex St. --- 1861 Cogswell School, School St. --1862 Bowditch School, Flint St. -- 1870 Pickman School, School St. ---1872 Phillips School, Essex St. --1883

 Named after Stephen C. Phillips, former mayor who donated his salary to a school building fund.

Pickering School, North St. --1894 Classical and High School, Highland Ave. ---1909 Horace Mann, --1913 Saltonstall School, Lafayette St. --- 1916 Endicott School, Boston St. -- 1930 Sheridan School, Orne St. -- 1930

 Named after Lt. Philip B. Sheridan

Carlton School, Skerry St. ---1950 Vocational High School, Highland Ave. --1953 Witchcraft School --- 1970 Bates School, Liberty Hill Ave. -- 1970 Salem High School, Willson Ave. --1976
