- Some of the locations in Salem that were filmed were:
Gardner-Pingree House (128 Essex St.),and the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, Derby St.
- This was one of the first of the literary adaptations of the Merchant-Ivory film company, now well-known for this film genre.
