Locke Regulator Company was a manufacturer of Steam Vehicle parts and fittings as well as copper or steel boilers in Salem. The company entered the automobile manufacturing field early in the century. In 1902, Locke built a four passenger steam runabout (early automobile) that they named "Puritan". The speed could reach 20 mpg and the engine was rated at 6 horse power.
