Barton Square Playhouse was located in the old Sears warehouse, at 8 Barton Square off of Washington Street.

John Fogle was the company's founder and artistic director. They were successful for a couple of years, but declared

Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1982. "After surviving several financial crises and the series of fires which raged through the downtown

area in early 1982, the theatre has closed its doors for good in Sept. of 1983" according to a News article.
