Bridgman, Jesse L.

From Salem Links and Lore

Jesse L. Bridgman (1857-1931) was a talented visual artist, also a great educator who lived in Salem. He taught through his

illustrations, wrote and illustrated educational children's books, and served on Salem's school board.

"He produced drawings of the original Pioneer Village, but did not sign them", according to John Goff in his Gazette article.

Bridgman seemed excited by the prospect of reconstructing a Salem from 1630. He worked out many details in fine perspective

drawings. He used pencil, pen and ink. Through his artworks Bridgman popularized and promoted Pioneer Village and Salem to the world.
