Ouellette, Carl L.

From Salem Links and Lore

Carl Ouellette, a 6th grader at Horace Mann School, fell from the ceiling in an auditorium at Salem State University on Oct. 2, 1970. He died of his injuries 3 days later.

The boy was able to climb about 30 feet high using catwalks to allow electricians access to lighting fixtures. When he fell he suffered a fractured skull, internal injuries and multiple lacerations of the head.

The mother of the boy blamed the situation near the Rainbow Terrace area, where they live, that there is not enough play areas so they go to unsafe places to play instead.
