Salem High School Hall of Fame

Salem High school hall of fame began in 1991 and every year the best athletes are added.

A subcommittee of the School Committee held a series of meetings in 2012 to revamp the

way athletes got into the High School Hall of Fame. A new inclusiveness to the committee is being encouraged.

The changes come after a long period of failed attempts to get former Salem High football coach Ken Perrone into

the athletic hall of fame. Although tied for the most victories in school football history, Perrone has never

been enshrined. He was at the center of a controversy during the 1994 teachers' strike when defying orders to not

play the game.
