This Old House

In 1995, This Old House television show, the local PBS show, with host Steve Thomas, renovated a c1768 house in Salem. The house was the home of Kevin and Deborah Guinee at 124 Federal Street.

The renovation project of this 10 room Federal style house was successful, though a proposed garage did not go through, after objections from neighbors. The Historical Commission initially approved the garage but city officials later reneged under pressure from the neighbors.

The renovation was completed in about 6 months, starting in June of 1995 and ending in November.
