Each user must read and accept this policy in order to access the Internet at the Salem Public Library.
The Library offers free Internet access to enhance the size and depth of the library’s collections and to allow open access to members of the community and visitors who do not have access to the Internet.
The Salem Public Library is not responsible for the content or quality of information accessed through the Internet.
The Library is not responsible for the security of transmitted or received information, loss of information, or damages resulting from accessing the Internet or from downloading.
Acceptable Use
Users shall respect the rights of other computer users, library patrons, and staff. Users shall comply with the Library’s Patron Code of Conduct.
Unacceptable Use
The Library’s wifi may not be used for:
– Unauthorized use or downloading of copyrighted materials including movies, media, and literature
– Illegal purposes
– Harassment
– Accessing sexually explicit content
– Infringement of the rights or privacy of others
– Disruption or destruction of electronic systems and services
Users in violation of this policy will forfeit all library privileges, will be subject to financial liability for damages, and may be subject to criminal penalties.
